Artists
William was born in the East end of Glasgow in the 1950. His artist abilities were
recongnised during his school years, where he won gold and silver medals for art.
He graduated from the renowned Glasgow School of Art in the late 1970. Since then
he has built his reputation at home and abroad. His work can be seen in private collections
in U.S.A, Australia, U.A.E as well as throughout the British Isles. He has undertaken
Commissions for major corporate clients and he has worked alongside some of the country
major charities. He can name one of Scotland most famous leading film stars along with some well known Scottish entrepreneurs as being collectors of his work.
In 1991 he was appointed the official artist to the inaugural leg of the World Yachting Grand Prix, in the same year he held his first solo exhibition to great acclaim.
He was the official artist when the Tall Ships visited Greenock on the Clyde in 1999. It was on the back of this he set off for Boston U.S.A in 2000 to exhibit his work during the Tall Ships visit to the city Sail Boston 2000 where his work was greeted with much public acclaim.
His first major solo show in over a decade took place in 2003 at the Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour. More resent exhibitions have taken place at, the offices of Shepherd and Wederburn London, The Anchor Hotel Tarbert Loch Fyne, at the start of the Scottish Series in 2005 and the Royal Gourock Yacht Club hosted his Autumn 2005 exhibition.
